Irena's parents are both engineers, now they own a small business in Yaremche - they have their own small hotel.
After school, Karpa moved to Kiev, where in 1998 she entered the Kiev National Linguistic University, the department of French philology and left there as a teacher of French.
Her passion for literature and music made Irena Karpa a famous person in Ukraine. Since 1999 she has been a soloist and lyricist of the musical group "Faktichno sami", which has been called Qarpa since 2007. In 2000, the debut album of the band of the same name was released.
The band's music is a mixture of industrial, punk rock, hardcore and psychedelic trip-hop. In total, Qarpa has five albums, besides the aforementioned first one, there are also discs with the following names: Kurva Cum Back, Lo-Fi TRavmi, In Fat and And I Made a Man. Irena's last record was released in 2011.
Her literary work first appeared on the pages of the underground edition "Thursday". Karpa's very first book "Znes of the Palenogo" was published in 2000 in Ivano-Frankivsk.
After graduating from the university, where she received a master's degree in foreign philology in the specialty "English and French", Irena devoted a year to traveling in Southeast Asia, and the experience gained was reflected in the second novel of the Setus by the writer "Freud bi crying", published by "Folio ".
In 2001, Karpa began to publish in the youth magazine "Milk", where under the pseudonym "Soya Elk" she led a section on sex. In 2005, Irena tried herself as a TV presenter - she went on the air of such Ukrainian channels as ICTV, Inter, MTV-Ukraine and TRK Ukraine.

While still in school, Karpa participated in a spiritual ensemble. At the age of 16 she recorded her first song "I am chekatima". In 2003, Karpa recorded vocals for the next two albums at once and left for Indonesia for a year. In her absence, Artym and Danielyan continued to work on albums, and cellist Evgenia Smolyaninova joined the group. At the end of 2004, Kurva Cum Back was released, followed by the album "Lo-Fi TRavmi" in 2005. He was accompanied by an all-Ukrainian tour with the new drummer Andrey Kogut.
In 2007, "Factually Sami" released the previously recorded "Cosmic Vacuum" and changed its name to Qarpa. Already in a new capacity, the group in the same year presented another album "IN FAT". One of the songs, "Clay", was written by the leader of "Scriabin" Andrey Kuzmenko, and in the song "Lady Du" the vocalist of "Tartak" Sashko Polozhinsky sings along with Karpa.
